About Us

We plan golf trips the way we'd want ours planned

SG Golf Travel is a golf-travel outfit built from the course up — run by people who work in the golf industry in Portugal, not a call centre reading off a supplier list.

Our story

It started on the maintenance crew, not in an office

Before SG Golf Travel existed, our founder was cutting greens and setting pins on courses around Vilamoura — the kind of work that teaches you exactly how a course plays on a given morning, and exactly which visiting groups get looked after and which don’t.

That access turned into a habit of arranging trips for friends, then friends of friends, visiting golfers who wanted the courses without the hassle of chasing tee sheets and transfers themselves. SG Golf Travel is that habit, formalised — first across the Algarve, now extending into Mauritius through the same kind of on-the-ground relationships.

Our mission

Take the logistics off a golfer's plate, without taking the choice away

A golf trip should be judged by the golf and the two weeks of looking forward to it — not by how many emails it took to get there.

Plan around the golfer

Handicap, pace of play, group dynamics and budget shape the itinerary — we don’t fit you into a fixed package.

Say what a course is really like

If a layout is brutal for high handicappers or a green is running slow that month, we tell you before you book, not after.

One point of contact

From first enquiry to the 19th hole, you deal with one person who knows your trip — not a rotating support desk.

What makes us different

Not a booking engine — a team that plays and maintains these courses

Most golf travel sites resell the same inventory as everyone else. SG Golf Travel is built on direct relationships with clubs and resorts in Portugal and Mauritius, including hands-on greenkeeping experience that most agencies simply don’t have.

That means tee times held rather than requested, honest advice on which course suits your group, and a network across France, the UK, Poland, Norway and Mauritius we can call on when a trip needs something non-standard.
